VELA ACQUIRES CONTMATIC PHOENIX
Contmatic Phoenix, a Brazilian company specializing in developing accounting, administrative, and management (ERP) software, has just been acquired by Vela, an acquisition, management, and software development company. The objective of the acquisition is to expand investments and enhance its growth project in the market, in addition to offering the company’s new products and services.
With 35 years of experience in the accounting segment, Contmatic Phoenix mainly operates in the southeast region and has a 70% market share in the state of São Paulo. The company serves more than 15,000 of the 20,000 offices registered in the Conselho Regional de Contabilidade – Regional Accounting Council (CRC-SP). In addition, the company was one of the five largest companies that developed accounting software in Brazil. Contmatic Phoenix had 450 employees and more than 100 thousand users among the 30 thousand client companies in the accounting and business sectors.
According to Sérgio Contente, the company’s founder, the acquisition was especially made possible thanks to the proposal of continuity and expansion of the project and the company’s autonomy regarding decision-making. With the acquisition, he leaves the position of CEO and takes over the role of advisor at the company.
Based on the founder’s decision to leave the main position at Contmatic Phoenix, the company now has Luiz Kurihara as its new CEO. The executive was, until then, Aurum CFO, a company acquired by Vela in 2019. Kurihara also served as the company’s CEO between 2012 and 2015.
The objective at this moment, according to Kurihara, is to guarantee the permanence of the company’s culture and to plan growth and expansion into new markets.
